Ava Webster, 3, plays on the slide in the children's area at Fort Smith Park, Friday, July 31, 2020, during a visit with her grandmother, Maggie Schmitz, her little sister, Liza Jane, 1, and her mother, Morgan Webster. According to Shari Cooper, Fort Smith PR & Communications Manager, the City of Fort Smith encourages everyone to get out and enjoy its park system but take notice of the park signage reminding visitors to socially distance ("Do Your Part -- 6 Feet Apart"). However, Cooper says that the City of Fort Smith follows the Governor's directives, as well as the Arkansas Department of Health's and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's guidelines. In doing so, at this time, the City specifically prohibits playground usage until further notice. Cooper said that the park staff does not have the resources to sanitize all of the playground equipment across the city and the City is not liable if individuals violate the policy, and so playground usage is completely at the individual's own risk.
