ROGERS - Former Arkansas golfer Stacy Lewis finished tied for 25th this weekend at the LPGA Walmart NW Arkansas Championship, the best of five current or former Razorbacks in the field.
The tournament, in its 10th season on the tour, was won by New Zealand’s Lydia Ko, the current No. 1 player in the world. Ko led, or was tied for the lead, for a majority of the weekend. She finished the final round Sunday with a 3-under par to Morgan Pressel’s even day to break the tie entering the round and win the championship.
Lewis, who has twice won the tournament and is a former No. 1 player, shot 3-under on the final day and 8-under overall, nine strokes back of Ko. Lewis played at Arkansas through 2008 has twice won the tournament just up the road from the Arkansas campus. She is currently the 10th-ranked player in the world.
Gaby Lopez, who graduated Arkansas last year, finished under-par, as well, coming in 4-under for a tie for 60th.
Regina Plasencia, a 2016 graduate, played the weekend with Alana Uriell and Maria Fassi, current Razorbacks, as well. None made the cut for Sunday’s final round as Uriell shot 3-over, Plasencia 1-over and Fassi an even-par.
