The Van Buren wrestling team have a trio of players with five or more wins in the last six outings for the team.

Austin Whitmore, Dillon Kinsey and Matt Gibson have accounted for 17 of 28 individual wins by Van Buren.

Whitmore, in the 132 weight class, had six wins as he pinned Bryson Hughes (Har-Ber), Max Perez (Springdale), Jacob Jones (Vian), Edgar Martinez (Northside) and Colby Verdier (Southside).

Gibson (220) had four wins as he defeated Austin Dederick (Springdale), Tyler Sweeney (Vian), Garrett Butler (Northside) and Malik Jackson (Southside). Gibson also picked up a forfeit against Poteau.

Kinsey, competing in the largest weight class (285), defeated Eli Espe (Har-Ber) on a 9-5 decision. Kinsey had a trio of wins as he pinned David Garcia (Springdale), Carlos Aleman (Northside) and Dale Wright (Poteau). Kinsey also picked up a pair of forfeits (Vian and Southside).

The Pointers tied with Springdale (42-42) on Jan. 14 and Vian (42-42) on Jan. 9.

Van Buren won just four individual matches against Springdale Har-Ber on Jan. 14 and four matches against Northside (Dec. 17). Southside edged Van Buren by clinching 8 of 5 matches on Dec. 17. Poteau defeated Van Buren by one match (42-36) back on Dec. 12.

David Kehl (126) won his match against Tanner Collins (Har-Ber) on a 6-3 decision. Kehl also won matches against Cody Fazier (Springdale) and Robert Opuda (Vian).

Kodi Brasuell (170) pinned Johnny Leman (Springdale) and Jason Barron (Southside).

Teo Sousa, in the 106 weight class, won two of his last three matches. He pinned Austin Bosley (Har-Ber) on Jan. 14 and Floyd Craighead (Vian) on Jan. 9.

Dalton Hall (132) pinned Taylor Fraley (Southside) and grabbed a forfeit (Poteau).

Garrett Brumley (182) won by forfeit (Springdale), but picked up a win by defeating Chase Davis (Poteau).

Hunter Greenfield (113) picked up a trio of wins via forfeit (Vian, Northside and Poteau). Jon Wagoner (195) also picked up a forfeit (Vian). Jet Turner picked up one forfeit (Poteau).
