The UAFS women’s basketball team will resume their road swing through the Lone Star State on Saturday when they play Heartland Conference foe McMurry at Kimbrell Arena in Abilene, Texas.

Tip-off will be 1 p.m. The game will be broadcast on KFPW-AM 1230 and via the Internet at www.sportshog1031.com.

The Lady Lions will look to bounce back from a tough loss to St. Edward’s during Thursday’s conference opener in Austin, Texas. UAFS led 26-25 at halftime but couldn’t overcome 25 turnovers in losing 64-60 to the unbeaten Hilltoppers.

Freshman guard Sydney Franklin scored a career-high 16 points and freshman forward Justyne Huber added 12 points for UAFS (0-5, 0-1) in the loss.

UAFS is averaging 59.2 points per game, and Huber leads the team in scoring with 12.4 points per game. Opponents are out-rebounding the Lady Lions by almost three rebounds per game (43.8-41.4). Freshman forward Kaitlyn Hopkins leads the team with six rebounds per game.

The Lady Lions are allowing 70.6 points per game and forcing almost 19 turnovers per game, including almost 11 steals per game. Freshman guard Maya Perry leads the team with 10 steals.

McMurry (1-4, 1-0) snapped a four-game losing streak with a 61-56 conference win against Rogers State on Thursday. The WarHawks are averaging only 52.2 points per game, and senior forward Keshia Collins leads the team in scoring with 18.2 points per game.

Opponents are out-rebounding the WarHawks by almost five rebounds per game (39.2-35). Collins also leads the team with 6.4 rebounds per game.

McMurry is allowing 63.8 points per game and forcing almost 17 turnovers per game. Collins leads the team in steals, too, with 19. She also has a team-high five blocks.
