The Alma Lady Airedales won the Darby Ranger Relays on Thursday at Southside High School in Fort Smith.

The Lady Airedales scored 135 points with very few first-place finishes, but accumulated points by bulk placing in events.

The Van Buren Freshman Academy was runner up in the girls’ division with 102 points.

Alma was second in the boys’ division and VBFA was sixth.

Cedarville was seventh in the girls’ division and eighth in the boys’.

Cedarville’s Allie Arnold won the the 100 and was second in both the long jump and the 100.

Van Buren’s Ashton Sangster won the 300 hurdles, the 100-meter dash, the triple jump and the long jump.

Lady Pointer Sage Mackin won the 800 and teammate Madi Chitwood was runner-up.

Cedarville’s Cierra Henry took first in the 3,200.

Alma won the girls’ 1,600 relay followed by Cedarville and Van Buren in second and third respectively.

The VBFA Lady Pointers also took first in the 3,200-meter relay.

Alma’s Abbye Ostrander was first in the high jump and teammate Alyssa Hoyle, who won the 400, was second in the high jump.

In the boys’ division Hunter Burkhart won both the 110- and 300-meter hurdles for the Airedales. Jacob Wells was second in the 110.

VBFA’s Dominic Gullien placed runner up in the 300.

Alma’s boys won the 400-meter relay.

Alma scores at Relay Carnival

The Alma Airedales finished fifth at the high school meet, the Whitey Smith Relay Carnival, on Thursday in Rogers while the Pointers placed eighth among 10 teams.

Alma was the only Class 5A school among 7A participants at the meet.

Alma won the discus relay with a combined throw of 405 feet, 9 inches among its three best hurlers. Alma was also second in the shot put medley.

In the women’s division Alma was seventh and Van Buren was 10th (among 11 schools).

Alma won the discus relay (289-6) and was second in the long jump relay.

The Lady Pointers took runner-up in the shot put relay.
