Behind a stellar performance from senior quarterback Jaxon McTyre, the Sallisaw Black Diamonds knocked off Fort Gibson from the ranks of the unbeaten.


The Diamonds held off the Tigers, 39-34, Thursday night at Perry F. Lattimore Stadium.


McTyre completed 17-of-28 passes for 223 yards and four touchdowns while adding 57 yards on the ground.


Three of McTyre’s four TD tosses went to Rylee Scavo, including a 57-yard strike just seconds into the fourth quarter which gave Sallisaw (3-2, 3-1 4A-4) a 39-28 lead. Ty McHenry caught a TD pass as well.


Scavo finished with 145 yards on nine receptions. Pason Dotson added 103 yards rushing on 15 carries, while Isaiah Blaylock had two rushing TDs for Sallisaw.


Poteau 47, Stilwell 0


The Pirates raised their win streak to five straight and also stayed undefeated in 4A-4 play with Thursday’s win at Costner Stadium.


Poteau (5-2, 4-0) built a 26-0 halftime lead and scored in all four quarters.


Jagger Dill rushed for 87 yards and a TD while Todd Mattox added 81 yards and two TDs. Quarterback Colton Williamson had a rushing TD and a passing TD, which went to Dean Odom.


Ben Brooks and Dylan Tucker had rushing touchdowns as well for the Pirates.
