State meets were expected to conclude on Friday at Lake Hamilton if the weather doesn’t continue to dump rain upon the state.

The Class 1A and 3A held their state respective state meets. Cedarville’s Kevan Jones won the shot put to advance onto the state overall meet. Jones’ throw was 47 feet, 4 inches to beat Vincent Jones of Ashdown (46-9.5).

The Cedarville men’s team tied with Paris for 19th overall with 10 points out of 39 schools. Osceola and Manila tied for 17th with 11 points. Prescott won the state title with 78.5 points.

The Lady Pirates tied for 21st out of 34 schools with just nine points.

Harding Academy won the women’s division with 71.5 points.

Chole MOrrow placed in two events. Morrow was fifth in the pole vault (8-6) and eighth (32-9) in the triple jump.

Katie McBroom was sixth (64.87 seconds) in the 400-meter run.

In the Class 1A, Mulberry’s Tyler William was seventh (103-11) in the discus.
