Danville keeps Mountainburg from the end zone.

The Little Johns dominated the line of scrimmage against Mountainburg in the first half and picked up a key 2A-4 Conference win Friday night at Dragon Field.

Danville scored on first three possessions. With nine first downs and converted it’s only two third downs in the first 28 plays.

Danville limited Mountainburg to just 20 yards in the first half. The Little Johns forced the Dragon offense to go three-and-out on six of their seven possessions.

The Little Johns tallied 261 yards of offense in the first half as it scored on four of its six possessions. Danville finished with 356 yards on a balanced attack, 185 on the ground and 171 through the air.

Trent Cathey ran for the first score of the night, on a 13-yard run. Cathey also caught a 5-yard screen pass for another TD.

Preston Donnell completed 5 of 8 passes in the first half for 97 yards and three touchdowns. The biggest was a short pass to Juan Ponce, who converted it into a 64-yard gain for a TD.

Donnell also threw a touchdown pass to Evan Lane from 25 yards out. Donnell was 12 of 16 for the game with 171 yards.

Quentin Tolbert, who was the workhorse of the game with 16 carries for 69 yards, added his touchdown, from 4 yards out to start the second half. Danville led 38-0 with 9:27 remaining to put the game out of reach for the Dragons.

Mountainburg finished with 159 yards (one through the air). Caleb Jorgensen ran for a team-high 51 yards on six carries and added a 23-yard TD run.

Dillon Jones added 41 yards on 2 totes, including a 32-yard scamper in the fourth. Jesse Quick ran for 40 on six carries.

Siloam Springs edged out Van Buren 35-21, while Cedarville won its first game of the season by rolling past Pocola 54-14.
