UAFS resumes home stand on Tuesday.

UAFS will resume its seven-game, season-opening, home stand on Tuesday when the Lions host the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats at 2 p.m.for one nine-inning baseball game at Crowder Field.

It will be the fourth game in six days for the Lions (2-1), who swept the Pittsburg State Gorillas and lost to the Henderson State Reddies this past weekend. Following its game against Northwest Missouri State, UAFS will host Missouri Western in a three-game series beginning at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

The Lions bat 0.148 as a team with 13 hits, including one double and one home run. Junior designated hitter Brennan Dooly leads the team in average (0.429) and is tied with sophomore shortstop Drew Duncan for the team lead in hits (three). Dooly is tied with junior second baseman Anthony Seminaris for the team lead in RBIs (three).

Senior left-hander Evan Dodd leads all starters in wins (one), ERA (2.57), innings pitched (seven) and strikeouts (eight).

Northwest Missouri State (3-0) began the season with a win against Fort Hays State (4-2) and wins against Northwestern Oklahoma State (15-0, 8-3).

The Bearcats, who compete in the MIAA, bat 0.301 with 31 hits, including five doubles and one home run. Utility player Luke Hassman leads the team in average (0.600), infielder Kevin Handzlik and infielder James Holler lead the team in hits (five), infielder Landon Figg leads the team in doubles (two) and RBIs (five) and outfielder Garrett Fort has the team’s only home run.

Right-hander Joseph Hietpas leads all starters in wins (one), ERA (0.00), complete games (one) and strikeouts (15). Reliever Nikko Pablo leads the team in saves (one).
