A roundup of junior high and middle school basketball, including Alma, Northridge and Butterfield Trail.

Both Alma junior squads took an early lead in the River Valley Conference as the Airedales defeated Chaffin.

The Airedalettes won 45-16 while the boys team 28-17 at the break and won their contest 48-30.

“We shot the ball very well last night,” said coach Eddie Corder. “I’m proud of their effort (Monday) night and it was like I have been telling the kids: we are a deep team and on any night it could be someone else to step up and play well for us.”

Dax Stahler came off the bench and hit a trey at the end of the first half and went on to knock down three more in the second half to finish with a game-high 14 points.”

Ceejay Mann added 13 points and seven assists. Martin Dyer scored all eight of his points in the first quarter as Alma built at 16-10 lead. Grayson Baily and Gabe Jensen each chipped in five points each.

Alma hosts Ramsey on Thursday.


GIRLS — Zoie McGhee scored 14 of her 20 points in the first quarter as the Airedalettes cruised to conference victory.

Alma led 29-5 at the break and was up 36-12 going into the fourth quarter.

London Blackwell chipped in with six and Hillarie Mata added five.



GIRLS — Bailey Woodard scored 15 and Carlie Nguyen added 11 as the Lady Pointers chalked up another win on Monday. Woodard also had four rebounds and four steals.

Brooke Moore led Northridge with five rebounds and Dlaynie Collins grabbed four boards.

Northridge hosts Cedarville on Wednesday.


GIRLS — Woodard scored 18 points in the Dec. 1 contest. Anna Lee and Ella Kuykendall had two points each.


SEVENTH GRADE — The Lady Pointers were led by Brooklyn Fancher’s eight points. The Northridge seventh-grade girls face Cedarville on Wednesday, and will split home and away games with Greenwood on Dec. 10 (Saturday). The girls host Greenwood while the boys travel to Sebastian County.


GIRLS — The Butterfield Trail eight grade finished the Muldrow tournament 2-1 after beating Union Christian on Saturday, Dec. 3.

Brookly Kannady scored 18 points as Butterfield Trail won 27-14. Elizabeth Rainwater added 11.

Butterfield Trail trounced Sallisaw 31-5 as Kannady led with 11 points on Dec. 2. Nichole Cope tossed in eight and Rainwater contributed six.

Rainwater also had eight points in the 47-18 loss to Muldrow to open the tournament.
