Alma's squad continues to make strides.

Alma coach Tiffany Drinkwitz felt like her team made huge strides against Greenwood on Thursday night.
But in the end the experienced Lady Bulldogs pulled out a 25-23, 25-20, 25-12 sweep of the Airedalettes at Charles B. Dyer Arena.
Sophomore Abby Cagle and junior Carrie Cielsa had eight and seven kills respectively for the 19-6 Lady Bulldogs.
Senior Alyssa Hoyle led the Airedalettes (6-10) with a game-high 11 kills. Bailey Hoffsommer and Rae Smith had eight and seven kills, respectively.
“I feel like we’re starting to realize where our weaknesses are, and what we need to work on,” Greenwood coach Jennifer Golden said. “We’re trying to fix the little things as we move forward.”
After a tight first match, Greenwood flexed its muscle in the second and third games.
“I thought we competed really well,” Drinkwitz said. “I thought for the first time in a long time we competed hard against them.”
For Alma, Abbye Ostrander finished with 28 assists. Scout Simpson and Jordyn Collyar had 18 and 17 assists.
The Airedalettes host Greenbrier Tuesday, play at Russellville on Sept. 29, and then compete in the Fort Smith Invitational on Oct. 1.
Sarah Snodgrass had four kills and Madi Pfeifer had three kills. Brooke Shortes and Cielsa finished with 14 and 13 assists, respectively. Also for Greenwood, Lexi Castillow led the team with 14 assists, and MaKenzie Presley and Hannah Johnston had 10 and eight digs, respectively.
