Harrison limited Alma to just 154 yards of offense (of which 80 was on one play), as the Goblins scored on three consecutive possessions to win 27-6 Thursday night at Airedale Stadium at Citizens Bank Field.
Alma kept it close as Tanner Shelton hit Felix Wright in full stride for an 80-yard touchdown strike with 2:17 remaining in the first quarter. A bad snap had Alma trail Harrison 7-6.
The Goblins (2-0) had 237 yards of offense. Ben Johnson completed 6 of 7 passes for 123 yards and two touchdowns. Thaler Lovell had 82 all-purpose yards (60 rushing) to help pace the offence.
Hunter Holtby ran in one score from six yards out for the first score of the game and caught an 11-yard pass right before halftime. Jesse Simmons added 44 yards on 11 carries and scored on a 14-yard run on the opening drive of the second half.
Shelton finished with 3 of 9 passing for 92 yards with a touchdown and an interception for the Airedales (0-2) and added 26 yards on the ground with eight carres.
Zac Henson finished out the game and completed 3 of 7 passes for 28 yards. Wright had two catches for 90 yards.
Greenbrier 20, VBFA 6
The Pointers opened the 2015 campaign with a loss in central Arkansas.
Isaac Davis scored on a screen pass from Christian Morrow from 51 yards out with less than a minute remaining in the first half. Chris Orellana’s PAT put VBFA within striking distance, 12-7 at halftime.
However, VBFA was unable to get anything going offensively in the second half.
The Pointers hit the road again next week to travel to Morrilton before returning to the area. VBFA faces Darby on Sept. 24 before hosting four of its remaining six games starting with Kimmons on Oct. 1.

NMS led 13-0 before Greenbrier rallied back.
