What a stunning letter that appeared in the Monday, Oct. 8, edition of the Times Record. In the interest of brevity, let's ignore the outrageous, almost paranoid accusations in the first paragraph with the exception of the last sentence, "Calls for violence against Republicans are going on almost daily led by Democrat congressmen, women and senators." Which congressmen, women and senators? Violence? Where? When? I read, watch and listen to the news from multiple sources every day, and I'm not seeing any of this? Whose fake news is the author watching? Or listening to?
Quoting again, "Hate is truly spewing from every pore of their bodies and why? Because they lost." As a reminder, they won the election by 3 million votes. They lost the Electoral College. As far as spewing hate, much of the author's letter is dripping with venom, absolutely oozing ill will, and preaching the vehement intolerance the letter writer so claims to abhor. Slime bags, fringe loonies, may our house be drug through the muck? Have Don the Con and his persistently annoying, divisive minions managed to con us yet again? He certainly has the letter's author.
In conclusion, we Americans lowered the bar far too much when we put Donald Trump in office. Because of that, the bar has been substantially lowered for far too many of his appointments to the Cabinet, staff positions, federal courts, etc. The standard used to select Brett Cavanaugh was simple — willingness to deprive women of their rights, keep out all non-white immigrants, value the corporation over individuals, strip Social Security and Medicare, and for Trump, most importantly, his willingness to protect the president.
