Roy Garland Nichols, 78, of Van Buren died Tuesday, May 12, 2015, in Fort Smith. He was a retired long-haul truck driver for Time D.C. Freight Lines and Crain Industries, member of First Assembly of God in Van Buren and attended Concord Baptist Church. He was a member of Teamsters Local No. 373 in Fort Smith, Arkansas Federation for the Blind and AARP. He was born Nov. 22, 1936, in Ozark and 1954 graduate of Ozark High School.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; a daughter, Lynn Sevenstar of Van Buren; a son, Roy Nichols of Van Buren; two sisters, Frances Vernon and and Earline Mayner, both of Ozark; two grandchildren and two great-grandsons.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with burial at Highland Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Lance Ellison, Gerald Stewart, Travers Meinardus, Sean Richardson, Aaron Gallaher and Scott Wallace.

Honorary pallbearers will be nephews and Sparks Hospital-Peachtree Hospice staff.
