Mildred Battles Schroeder, 94, of Alma passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015, at a local hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of Concord Baptist Church in Van Buren. She was born May 13, 1920, in Ozark to the late Fay C. and Grace (Minor) Shibley. She also is preceded in death by her first husband, Bill Battles, the father of her children and Bill Schroeder; one daughter, Era Kay Battles; two sons, James David and Randall Lance Battles; one grandson, Justin Kyle Battles; and one great grandson, Cole Michael Greenfield.
Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Oliver and husband Terry of Alma; one son, Bill Battles and wife Carolyn of Alma; one sister, Joyce Core of Paris; one brother, Fay C. Shibley Jr. of Abilene, Texas; five grandchildren, Clif Battles, Lisa McAlister, Jennifer Payne, Carmen Stockton and Lane Oliver; 13 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Ocker Chapel of Alma with interment in Gill Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
Pallbearers will be Clif Battles, Lane Oliver, Colton Battles, Todd Brown, Zack Oliver, Tyler Oliver and Jake Greenfield. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Jo Core, Robert Trotter, Paul Cooper, Terry Fimple, Nic Stockton, Tommy Greer and David Leclercq.
