John T. Brake, 83, of Mulberry died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at a local hospital. He was a retired brick mason, homebuilder and sawmill operator and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Alma.

He is survived by his wife, Violet; a daughter, Connie Reeves of Mulberry; four sons, John Brake of Holiday Isle, Danny and Stanley Brake, both of Mulberry, and Dwight Brake of Dyer; a brother, Darrell of California; two sisters, Nancy Tipton and Beverly Jennings, both of California; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Alma with burial at Oak Bower Cemetery near Mulberry under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Lewis, Leslie Webb, Ronny McCollum, Gary Patterson and Lanty and Candon Brake.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday before the service at the church.
