Samuel "Gene" Mitchell, 66, of Mt. Vernon, Mo., died May 26, 2016, in Springfield. He was born March 20, 1950, and was a bio-med tech at Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center in Poteau, Summit Medical Center in Van Buren, MRC in Mt. Vernon and Freeman Health Systems in Joplin. He and his wife, Bernice, sang at nursing homes, owned Nu-Trax Christian Music Studio in Van Buren and attended LifeBridge Assembly of God in Mt. Vernon.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice; three brothers, J.E. and David Mitchell of Beebe, Ark., and Charlie Mitchell of Texas; and three sisters, Shirley Cross of Beebe, Velma Heaps of Ward, Ark., and Amy Ellis of Chase, Mich.

Celebration of life was May 28 at Sanctuary of Hope in Branson. Cremation was under the direction of Springfield Mortuary.
