Suzanne Lillian (Sagely) McBride of Sherrills Ford, N.C. passed away suddenly on July 18, 2018, following a brief illness. She was 80 years old. Suzanne was born on Dec. 10, 1937, in Pasadena, Calif., and grew up in Van Buren. She graduated from Van Buren High School and was very active in voice, band and drama, which won her a complete scholarship to College of the Ozarks (presently University of Ozark), as well as the opportunity to study and perform at the Pasadena Playhouse School of Acting in California. She married high school sweetheart and love of her life, John McBride, in 1957.
Suzanne was a long-time resident of Winston-Salem, N.C., and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Her creative talents, strong Christian faith, unconditional love and encouragement were an inspiration to so many whom she encountered throughout her life. Her laughter, warmth and wisdom (and her turkey dressing and pumpkin bread!) will be so very missed.
She was predeceased by her parents, Alta Mae Shaffer and John Campbell Sagely; her sons, John Michael McBride and Neil Allen McBride; her daughter, Melanie Suzanne Sweat.
Suzanne is survived by her husband, John L McBride of Sherrills Ford, N.C.; her daughter, Melissa McBride of Atlanta, Ga.; her eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous cousins.
Funeral service were held on July 24 at Frank Vogler and Sons Chapel in Clemmons, N.C,, with burial at Westlawn Gardens of Memory, also in Clemmons. Pastor Nathan Parrish officiated.
Pallbearers were Brandon McBride, Ian Sweat, Eva Sweat, Melissa McBride, Nick Branch, Jonathan Adams, Adam Ward, Tom Cheek.
Suzanne’s prayer for those she leaves behind is Romans 15:13.
