The Rev. William Andrew Cheyne Sr., 87, of Van Buren died Thursday, July 12, 2018. He was an associate minister of First United Methodist Church of Fort Smith, minister at First United Methodist Church in Booneville, served on the Board of Global Ministries, First United Methodist Church in Ashdown, St. Paul United Methodist Church in Little Rock, Fort Smith District Superintendent and First United Methodist Church in Siloam Springs. He retired in 1995, and in 1996, he became a part time minister of pastoral care at First United Methodist Church in Fort Smith. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, Earline (King) Cheyne; two daughters, Debra Whitbeck of Holland, Mich., and Jane Cheyne of Springdale; three sons, William A. Cheyne Jr. of Sedalia, Mo., Ronald Cheyne of Edmond, Okla., and Dr. Stanley Cheyne of Farmville, Va.; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral was July 16 at Fort Smith First United Methodist Church with burial at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.

Pallbearers were his grandsons, Cody, Steven, Kevin, Morgan, Sullivan and Garrison Cheyne.
