Cecilia Raye Hesslen Peer, 65-year-old resident of Siloam Springs, passed away on May 27, 2018, at Washington Regional Medical Center. She was born on Dec. 13, 1952, in Bethesda, Md., to Cecil Ray Hesslen and Violet Louise (Gregory) Hesslen. Cecilia graduated from Northside High School in Fort Smith in 1970. She attended the University of Central Arkansas and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in special education in 1980. Cecilia married Charles Peer on Aug. 3, 1984, and they lived in Van Buren for six years before moving to Siloam Springs. Having a passion and a gift for special education, she worked as a teacher for 35 years with the Van Buren, Siloam Springs, and Springdale School districts. Cecilia was a member of First United Methodist Church in Siloam Springs and PEO Chapter T.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Violet Hesslen.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Peer of the home; daughter, Jordan Peer Thomas and husband Harold of Siloam Springs; two grandsons, Collier and Remington; granddaughter, Londan; father, Cecil Hesslen and wife MaryAnn of Van Buren; sister, Sharon Burns and companion Bill King of Van Buren; brother, Buddy Hesslen and wife Leanna of Van Buren; three nephews and two nieces.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Siloam Springs with Dr. Larry Dodgen and Pastor Manny Anchondo officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs.
