Charles David Riddle, 95, of Van Buren passed away on Friday, April 6, 2018, at a local hospital. He was a manager for S&Q Clothiers and the men’s department at JC Penney, a member of the First Baptist Church in Fort Smith and an Army and Air Force veteran of World War II. Charles was born in Gainsville, Texas, on Oct. 19, 1922, to the late Robert and Mary (Coker) Riddle. He also was preceded in death by his first wife, Veneda L. Riddle; and a brother, Slim Riddle.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Ulrich Riddle of the home; three daughters, Sandy Hale and husband Bill of Alma, Brenda S. Lively and husband Douglas of Fort Smith and Tammie Smith of Arkansas; one brother, Robert Riddle and wife Ann of Fayetteville; one sister, Zelda Gibbs of Big Springs, Texas; two grandchildren, Jeff Poole and wife Heather and Nick Lively and wife Rana; two great-grandchildren, Jaden Poole and Shelbi Dority; two stepdaughters, Susette and husband Tom of Illinois and Jeanette MacPeek and husband Don of Alma; one stepson, Joe Ulrich and wife Bibianna of Illinois; and several stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Service was April 10 at Ocker Chapel of Alma with a private family interment at Bolton Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
Pallbearers were Doug Lively, Nick Lively, Bill Hale, Bill Lane, Don MacPeek and Cal Westerhof.
