Howard R. Borchert, 90, of Fort Smith passed away Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017, at a local hospital. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and Korean War and a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fort Smith. He was a line foreman at Riceland Electric Coop in Stuttgart, Ark. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Helena (Hahn) Borchert; and one son, James Howard Borchert.

He is survived by his wife, Sallye Marie Borchert of the home; two sons, Fred Borchert and his wife Cindy of Fort Smith and Kermit Borchert and his wife Cindy of Vernon, Ill.; one brother, Max Borchert of Stuttgart; and five grandchildren, Aaron, Nathan, Zack, Bethany and Brad.

Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren. There is no formal service scheduled at this time.
