Glenn Butler Nelson, 94, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, in Fort Smith. He was born in Kibler, Ark., to his parents, Andrew Butler Nelson and Minta Shibley Nelson. He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen Clyma Nelson; daughter, Gail Thorson Morris; and siblings, Thell Nelson, Velma Kimbriel, Maynard Nelson, Geneva Courtney, Regeta Hassler and Imogene Etter.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Bridget Weisenfels Nelson of Fort Smith; his daughters, Glenda Kraus and husband Robert and Minta Jane Bowers and husband David, all of Fort Smith; his brother, Dell Nelson and wife Carolyn of Fort Smith; grandson, Jon Thorson and wife Kim and their children Enid, Mara and Luke of New York, N.Y.; grandson, Martin Thorson and wife Tanya and their sons Andrew and Max of Baltimore, Md.; grandson, Grant Bowers and wife Jillia and their daughter Addeline of Fort Smith; grandson, Nathaniel Thorson of Reno, Nev.; stepdaughter, Pam Pyland and husband Bruce of Fort Smith; and stepgrandchildren, Laura Pyland Warren and husband Chad of Mustang, Okla., Derek Pyland of Charlottesville, Va., Caitlin and Cory McClaren of Centerton, Ark., Dylan Weisenfels of Fayetteville, Ark., and Devin Weisenfels of Fort Smith.

Glenn was the sales manager for Griffin Grocery Co. He taught Sunday school at Grand Avenue Baptist Church for more than 60 years. Glenn loved gardening and sharing the produce he planted.

A memorial service was Nov. 3 at Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith. Visitation was Nov. 2 at Edwards Funeral Home.
