Gurvas “Wayne” McCarley, 80, of Fort Smith passed away Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017, at a local hospital. He was a carpenter and woodman at Riverside Furniture in Fort Smith for more than 20 years and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Pasquali McCarley; his parents, Pierce and Lucille (Thames) McCarley; and one brother, Dee McCarley.

He is survived by one daughter, Mary Karlsson and her husband Eric of Fort Smith; two sons, Kenneth McCarley and his wife Stephanie of Florida and Tony McCarley and his wife Donna of Fort Smith; one sister, Jean Kersh of Texas; two brothers, Joe McCarley and his wife Sue of Lamar and Fred Mathews and his wife Cindy of California; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside service was Oct. 30 at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.

Pallbearers were Alex McCarley, Josh Wagnor, Shawn Lamont, Terry Flanagan, Dale Labs, Frank Cameron, and Mark Bryant.
