Fred Zimmerman, 79, of Greenwood died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, at his home. He was a retired auditor for Western Union Telegraph, a member of the Apostolic Tabernacle Church in Poteau, Okla., a seasonal worker for the Four Rivers Cotton Gin in Jonesville, La., and had served in the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Lou and Harry Zimmerman, and five brothers, John, M.C., Nolan, Bill and Wallace Zimmerman.
He is survived by his wife Polly of the home; two sons, Keith Zimmerman and his wife Brenda of Alma and Tony Zimmerman and his wife Sherry of Scottsboro, Ala.; a sister, Pat Rogers of Greenwood; 11 grandchildren and and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was Sept. 13 at Van Buren United Pentecostal Church with interment at Dyer Cemetery in Dyer under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers were Wesley, Warren, Scooter and Kaleb Zimmerman and Charles and Josh Rogers.
