Hal Barron Meadors, 88, of Delray Beach, Fla., and formerly of Van Buren and Pinehurst, N.C., passed away on April 9, 2017. Mr. Meadors was predeceased by his father, George Meadors; his mother, Zoe Barron Meadors; and his sister, Faye Bennett.
Mr. Meadors was a World War II Navy veteran and served in the Air National Guard during the Cuba crisis. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 35 years. He was a graduate of Van Buren High School in Van Buren where he was active in sports and played in the school band. He was involved in numerous community organizations and served as union representative for his local Postal Service unit.
He is survived by his wife, Allene Coats Means Meadors of Delray Beach; his son, Dr. Allen Meadors and his daughter-in-law Barbara of Seven Lakes, N.C.; his grandsons, Tyson Meadors of Arlington, Va., and Jarrett Meadors and family (granddaughter-in-law, Kara, and two great-grandchildren, Addison and Grayson) of Charlotte, N.C.
A memorial service was April 13 at Harbour’s Edge in Delray Beach, Fla., under the direction of Lorne and Sons Funeral Home, Delray Beach.
