Carl Henry DeWitt, 76, of Alma passed away Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, at his home in the loving arms of his wife of 30 years. He was a professional truck driver for 54 years. Retired from USA Truck, he attended New Heights Baptist Church in Alma and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was born Sept. 29, 1940, in Stockton, Calif., to the late Anna (Jones) and Clyde DeWitt. He also was preceded in death by his son, Travis Leonard; a grandson, Eric Lee Wesley Cooper; and a great-grandson, Zackary Daniel Wills.
Survivors include his wife, Florence DeWitt of the home; four daughters, Terri Lynn Linker (Edward) of Fort smith, Carla Ann Cooper (Calvin) of Chester, Cindy Dawn DeWitt Kelly (Buddy) of Hodgen, Okka., and Sandy Freeman of Alma; two sons, Jerry Carl DeWitt of Abbott, Ark., and Danny Isakson of Alma; two sisters, Anna Jean Sims and Clydene Hughes of Waldron; one brother, Darrell DeWitt of Sugar Grove, Ark.; 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Ocker Chapel of Alma with interment at Gracelawn Cemetery with military honors. Services are under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
Pallbearers will be Darrell DeWitt Jr., Rick Sims, Butch Sims, Danny Isakson Aaron Freeman and DeWayne Melton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Carpenter, Harold Taff and Delbert Reed.
The family will visit with friends 1-3 p.m. Sunday at Ocker Funeral Home of Alma, 917 E. U.S. 64, Alma.
