Obituary - Oct. 26, 2016

Wanda Lee Davis, 82, of Van Buren passed away Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016, at her home. She was retired teacher. She was a graduate of Mulberry High School and graduated from University of Southwest Louisiana with a bachelor’s degree and from Louisiana State University with a master’s degree in education. She was a member of the Kappa Delta PI Sorority. She was selected teacher of the year at Tara High School in Baton Rouge, La., in 2001-02. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley F. Davis II.

She is survived by two sons, Randy Mounce of Van Buren and Doug Wilkins and wife, Martha of Mulberry; one sister, Bettye Davis of Houston, Texas; one brother, Gale Morse of Mulberry; six grandchildren, Chad Wilkins and wife Teika of Mulberry, Rebecca Whittington and husband Gary of Van Buren, Chris Causey of Baton Rouge, La., DeiDra Mounce, Christina Mounce of Juneau, Alaska, and Michael Mounce of Colorado. and six great-grandchildren, Austin Wilkins and wife Syndie, Tanner Wilkins, Breanna and Conner Stacy and Nate and Avery Whittington.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Mulberry Cemetery in Amite, La., under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Family will visit with relatives and friends at 10 a.m. Thursday at Ocker Memorial Chapel, 700 Jefferson St., Van Buren.
