Obituary - Oct. 22, 2016

Blanche Florine (Kimes) Summers, 87, of Alma passed away Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016, at Alma Rehabilitation and Health. She was born Feb. 3, 1929, in Fort Smith. She was a member of the First Methodist Church in Mulberry. Florine was a loving, giving person who loved her family and others unselfishly. She showed us what love is and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvie Kimes and Alta (Pope) Kimes; her husband, Gerald Summers; a sister, Margie Sutton; and two brothers, Herman Kimes and Marion Kims.

She is survived by a daughter, Sharon (Summers) Humphrey and husband Larry of Russellville; two sons, Jerry Summers and wife Rhonda of Alma and Frank Summers of Mulberry; a sister, Harvine Price of Fort Smith; four grandchildren, Annette Summers of San Francisco, Amanda (Summers) Lester of Alma, Clay Humphrey of Brooklyn Park, Minn., and Chanda Humphrey of Tulsa; and three great-grandchildren, Brycen Lester, Gavyn Lester and Larsen Humphrey.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Simmons Cemetery on Sharp Chapel Road in Dyer under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren. Pastor Pete Beevers will be officiating.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Hunter, Justin Hunter, Justin Lester, Clay Humphrey, Eddie Tweedy and Bill Kersner.

The family will visit with friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren.
