Obituary - Oct. 22, 2016

Alvin Goins, 99, of Van Buren, formerly of Fort Smith, died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016, in Fort Smith. He was born Sept. 24, 1917, in Excelsior, Army veteran of World War II and retired from Harding Glass after 36 years. He was a 32nd degree Mason and past master and member of the Belle Point Lodge for 50 years. He was the widower of Betty Jean Goins.

Graveside service was Oct. 21 at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Mortuary.

He is survived by a daughter, Patricia Carruth of Fort Smith; a son, Larry Goins of Van Buren; two stepdaughters, Raylene Hillhouse of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Dee Shaw of Van Buren; two stepsons, Dale Sines of Killeen, Texas, and Howard Sines of Van Buren; numerous grandchildren, stepgrandchildren, great-grandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
