Obituary - Sept. 14, 2016

Jerry Gaye Center, 80, of Winslow passed away Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016, at his home. He was born Oct. 29, 1935, in Fayetteville to the late Alvis and Sally Center. He worked at Dixie Cup from 1960-1965, taught machine shop at Westark Community College and had his own shop in Alma. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Alma F&AM Masonic Lodge No. 735. He was the youngest of 10 brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sibyl Center.

He is survived by a son, Mark Center and wife Latisha Puckett of Winslow; and a granddaughter, Kadence Center.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with a committal service following at 4 p.m. at Blackburn Cemetery near Winslow under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.

Pallbearers will be Jack Yancy, Charles B. Brown, Kevin Edwards, Stacy Mullinex, Gary Provence, Daniel Voorhees, Matt Devore, Jim L. Jones and Bill Bradbury. Honorary pallbearers will be all of the machine shop students he taught.

The family will visit with friends 5-7 p.m.Wednesday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren.
