Jim Jones holds a letter of commendation that he accepted July 17 on behalf of Crawford County Search and Rescue during the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission inaugural Enforcement Division Awards in Little Rock. The Crawford County Sheriff’s Department and SAR team were both recognized for the part they played during the search for Arkansas Game and Fish wildlife officer Joel Campora and Scott County Sheriff Cody Carpenter who disappeared while themselves trying to rescue two women during severe flooding in the Y City area of Scott County in the spring of 2013. More than 31 people from agencies around the state assisted in the search, Jones said. Meetings for Crawford County SAR are held the first Tuesday of each month at the Emergency Operations Center in Van Buren.
