It will be a scene straight from a red carpet movie premier as the Van Buren Chamber of Commerce hosts Thursday its inaugural Prime Time Expo.
With its newest members as the shining stars, the evening will include a "A Night at the Oscars" themed business exposition that will include food, music, movies and networking opportunities.
The event will be held from 5:17 to 7:17 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club in Van Buren at 1403 City Park Road.
More than 50 businesses and organizations will be in the spotlight with booths showcasing participants’ services and products set up throughout the venue. Representatives sporting costumes from their favorite films will also be on-hand to answer questions and chat with visitors.
Chamber director Jackie Krutsch said the creative business event is open to the public.
"This is our first-ever Prime Time Expo and we are thrilled to be hosting an event designed to highlight our newest members," Krutsch said. "Our team of committed volunteers has organized a fantastic expo that will be as much fun as it will be informative. We encourage all of the participants and visitors to embrace the Hollywood theme and channel their favorite character."
Offered at no cost to participants, the event will provide chamber members the opportunity to market their business to the community in a fun, cinema-themed exposition that is open to the public. The event is presented by Hope’s Creek Retirement Center.
Upon arrival, guests will walk the red carpet, before making their way into the expo area to browse the participant booths. Clips and soundtracks from a number of movie classics will play throughout the evening. The expo also will feature its own version of the Academy Awards.
A panel of "critics" or judges will visit each booth to select winners for numerous honors. Categories will include best dressed actor/actress in a leading role, best dressed booth and best screenplay, which will focus on the content and information provided by participants to visitors at the event.
"Word has gotten out about some of the creative booths that are to be included. We have a had an incredible response from the business community and from individuals wanting to attend," said Krutsch. "We anticipate a large crowd will be in attendance, making it the perfect platform for participants to market their organization to the public."
While booths are limited to Van Buren Chamber of Commerce members, the exposition is open to all. Admission is free, and guests will enjoy the chance to win a number of prizes.
