Several Crawford County schools and after-school programs are offering free meals for kids this summer.

Alma, Cedarville and Van Buren school districts, the Boys and Girls clubs of both Alma and Van Buren, and Western Arkansas Child Development are providing free breakfast and lunch to any child under the age of 18 throughout the summer.

Van Buren School District will be providing meals to kids June 6-Aug. 5 at four locations Monday-Friday, except for July 4, for the duration of the program.

Central Elementary School will serve breakfast 7:30-8:30 a.m. and lunch 11 a.m.-noon. Van Buren Public Library, the Van Buren Housing Authority and the Boys and Girls Club of Van Buren will serve breakfast 8:30-9 a.m. and lunch noon-1 p.m.

Cedarville School District will provide busing as part of its program, scheduled Monday-Friday for June 6-Aug. 5. Breakfast will be 7:45-8:45 a.m. and lunch from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. It will be closed July 3 and 4.

Six bus stops are designated for transportation to and from the high school cafeteria, where the meals will be served.

Bus stops are Cedarville Baptist Church and Uniontown store, with breakfast pickup at 7:40 a.m. and return at 9:15 a.m., and lunch pickup at 11:30 a.m and return at 1:10 p.m.; Natural Dam store, with breakfast pickup at 7:50 a.m. and return at 9:10 a.m., and lunch pickup at 11:15 a.m and return at 1 p.m; Shiloh Village, with breakfast pickup at 7:55 a.m. and return at 9:05 a.m., and lunch pickup at 11:45 a.m. and return at 12:50 p.m.

Additional bus stops are the corner store across from Crawford County Speedway, with breakfast pickup at 8 a.m. and return at 8:50 a.m., and lunch pickup at 11:45 a.m and return at 12:50 p.m.; and Lucian Wood Road, with breakfast pickup at 8:05 a.m. and return at 9 a.m., and lunch pickup at 11:45 a.m. and return at 1:10 p.m.

Times may vary anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes.

Alma kids can eat free this summer through the Alma School District’s bookmobile program and the Boys and Girls Club of Alma.

Airedale Book Express mobile library will provide sack lunches and books June 6-Aug. 5 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays with a different schedule each day.

On Mondays, the bookmobile will stop at Hidden Oaks Lane at 9:15 a.m., Mote Road and Peter’s Road at 9:40 a.m., Graphic store at 10 a.m., Mountain Grove Road at 10:20 a.m., Ready, Set, Grow! Daycare parking lot at 11 a.m., Alma Garden Apartments at 11:30 p.m., Railroad and Spring streets at 12:45 p.m., London and Seal streets at 1 p.m., Garden Walk Apartments on Harris Drive and Chitwood Drive at 1:15 p.m., Mulberry Street at 2:15 p.m., and Harmony Road and Melody Lane at 2:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, the stops will be Sunrise Mobile Home Park at 9:15 a.m., Rudy store at 9:40 a.m., Kelly Road and Collum Lane subdivision at 10 a.m., Pine Oak subdivision at 10:30 a.m., Rudy Road Apartments at 11 a.m., Alma Garden Apartments at 11:30 a.m., Railroad and Spring streets at 12:45 p.m., London and Seal streets at 1 p.m., Garden Walk Apartments on Harris Drive and Chitwood Drive at 1:15 p.m., and Mulberry Street at 2:15 p.m.

On Fridays, the stops will be Riley subdivision at 9:15 a.m., Kibler bus stop at 10 a.m., Orrick and Lamb roads at 10:30 a.m., Sharp Chapel and Red Hill roads at 10:45 a.m., Porter Place and Main Street in Dyer at 11 a.m., Alma Garden Apartments at 11:30 p.m., Railroad and Spring streets at 12:45 p.m., London and Seal streets at 1 p.m., Garden Walk Apartments on Harris Drive and Chitwood Drive at 1:15 p.m., and Mulberry Street at 2:15 p.m., and Harmony Road and Melody Lane at 2:30 p.m.

Alma Boys and Girls Club will serve breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday, except for July 4, during its summer program June 6-Aug. 5. Breakfast will be a 10 a.m. and lunch at 2 p.m.
