Two event sponsors already have been signed up for the eighth annual Festival of Trees.
Van Buren Advertising and Promotion Commission and Chapel Ridge Health and Rehab are the first two sponsors for this year’s Festival of the Trees scheduled for Dec. 7 through Dec. 16 on the Crawford County Courthouse lawn.
Additional event sponsors and tree sponsors are being sought for the event sponsored by the Van Buren Chamber of Commerce, according to Alisa Kelly, organizer of the event.
Tree sponsors include Rhodes Chevrolet, BancorpSouth, Citizens Bank & Trust Co., Kiwanis Club of Van Buren and Press Argus-Courier.
Festival of the Trees opens Dec. 7 and runs through Dec. 26.
"Participants will enjoy uniquely decorated trees sponsored by local businesses while celebrating the county’s official kickoff of the holiday season," Kelly said.
The courthouse lighting ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. The Old Town Merchants Association will have its living window displays on Main Street in historic downtown beginning at 5 p.m.
At the courthouse, there will be free hot dogs, chili, hot cocoa and cookies while supplies last, Kelly said.
There will also be groups and individuals performing holiday music, she said.
