The 10th annual Festival of Trees sponsored by the Van Buren Chamber of Commerce will be unveiled Saturday, Dec. 6, on the Crawford County Courthouse lawn.

Held in conjunction with the courthouse lighting ceremony and The Old Town Merchants Association’s Living Windows, the Christmas tradition draws hundreds each year to celebrate the start of the season in downtown Van Buren.

Chamber members have the opportunity to participate in Festival of Trees by either serving as a tree or event sponsor, according to festival co-chairs Traci Wilhelm and Megan Gifford. Tree sponsors are assigned a tree to decorate on the lawn, which remains on display throughout the Christmas season.

"The festival is a perfect opportunity to market your business or organization to the community, as many visit both during the event and in the weeks following," Wilhelm said.

Tree sponsorships are $150. Event sponsorships are available for $250 and include additional marketing opportunities.

The uniquely decorated trees will be judged for their overall appearance and decor. Winners will be announced at the lighting ceremony, which will begin at 6 p.m. on the courthouse lawn.

Bancorp South, Penmac Staffing Services, Hampton Inn - Van Buren, Arvest Bank, United Federal Credit Union, Arkansas Federal Credit Union, Experian and Press Argus-Courier are among the companies which will participate in Festival of the Trees.

Gifford said both tree and event sponsorships are limited and chamber members are encouraged to sign up by Monday.
