Cedarville School Board approved contracts and holiday bonuses during their October and November meetings.

Board members were reorganized during the Oct. 23 regular monthly meeting. Newly elected officers are Robert Neal as president, Jerry Kennedy as vice president, and Phillip Fears as secretary and primary disbursement officer.

During that meeting, board members approved a contract for the installation of the new elementary playground equipment with Turnkey Construction for $93,136.

The new contract includes the cost of a new swing set, wood chip ground cover and TuffTimbers Edging. Other playground equipment, which Superintendent Dan Foreman said is in good condition, will be repainted and reinstalled.

Also included in the contract is a new basketball court, four tether ball posts and several CoolToppers Shades for kids to keep out of the sun, Foreman said.

During the Nov. 20 regular meeting, board members approved a $300 bonus across the board for all Cedarville School District Personnel. The bonuses will be given out in December before Christmas, Foreman said.

Five teachers also approved for the National Board Certification stipends. The five teachers who qualify are Cathy Reese, Holly Brown, Pattie Murphy, Telitha Hernandez and Carla Lesley.

Board members also approved to renew the school district’s contract with Mercy for the school’s health clinic for one year. Mercy will continue services and will not be charged rent, but will pay its portion of the utilities, Foreman said.

Paul Mason was hired as a part-time high school custodian.
