Cedarville School Board members approved Christmas bonuses and new personnel during their Nov. 21 and Dec. 19 meetings.

In November, board members approved a $300 Christmas bonus for employees. The bonus will go to every employee of Cedarville School District, said Superintendent Dan Foreman.

Also at the November meeting, a low bid of $104,647.86 from Fort Smith Restaurant Supply was accepted. The company will provide industrial kitchen equipment for the new elementary cafeteria, built as part of the school district’s safe room.

Board members accepted the resignation of Mark Shelton, the high school football coach and teacher. New hires were Christy Hopkids and Candy Mongold for employment in the elementary cafeteria.

Glennis Cook, former Cedarville High School principal, was approved as interim elementary principal, Foreman said. School officials are accepting applications for the position and plan to hire a new principal as soon as possible, he said.

Cook is taking over for Phillis Dickinson, who had been with the school district as elementary principal for six years.

Dickinson retired Dec. 21 to take care of family members, Foreman said. She was presented with a service award at the Dec. 19 meeting.

Also at the December meeting, board members approved the sale of one construction trailer for $5,001.98. They also approved the purchase from Midwest Bus Sales of a pre-owned 2004 school bus that holds 71 passengers.

Five board certified teachers also were approved to receive a $1,000 stipend. Board certified teachers are Patty Murphy, Holly Brown, Cathy Reese, Carla Lesley and newly certified Telitha Hernandez.
