A Nov. 3 fight involving knives, chains, pipes and large wooden sticks has resulted in five adults facing felony charges in Crawford County Circuit Court.

Entering pleas before Judge Gary R. Cottrell Wednesday were Gage Jacob Moon, 19, and David Jacob Adams, 21, both of Alma, and Texas Pelly Austin II, 41, Clarissa Lee Austin, 19, and Amanda Stevie Thorpe, 18, all of Van Buren.

All are charged with three counts of second-degree battery, attempted second-degree battery and second-degree assault.

The public defender’s office entered the pleas and waived formal arraignment before Cottrell.

Witnesses told Van Buren police Moon pulled up at a residence in the 1100 block of Flat Rock Drive in a red Chevrolet vehicle. He and another man were swinging metal bars and chains, one witness said.

Police were told the two left and returned in about five minutes with a second vehicle, a Chevrolet Tahoe.

A police report states one man had to be hospitalized after being hit in the arm with a board and a woman was knocked to the ground with a baseball bat. One of the vehicles attempted to run over another man when it left the residence, the witness told police.

A juvenile also was arrested and taken to Danville, the police report states.
