Alma Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual banquet will be Jan. 23 at 6 p.m. at the Alma High School student union.
Chamber representatives will give out the organization’s community leader of the year and business of the year awards during the banquet, with dinner catered by the Alma High School.
Lundy Kiger, board chair for the Fort Smith Regional Alliance, will be the guest speaker at the 2014 banquet.
Kiger is expected to speak on economic development in the region and Alma’s role in that development, said Lisa Norris, director for the Alma Area Chamber of Commerce.
Also part of this year’s banquet, the chamber will give out its annual Community Leader of the Year and Business of the Year awards for area individuals and businesses that are considered leaders in community involvement.
Winners of the business award need to be supportive at a local level and sponsor activities in the community, Norris said. Community Leader awards are generally given to someone who has contributed to the community as a whole, financially and through activity involvement, she said.
Alma Area Chamber of Commerce services the entire area, including cities such as Mulberry and Cedarville that do not have their own chambers. Award winners can come from any part of that area, Norris said.
Tickets for the banquet are $23 each, or a table of six can be reserved for $150.
Included in the price of the ticket is dinner, which will be beef medallions with shrimp, garlic potatoes, Antigua vegetables, romaine salad and strawberry shortcake for dessert.
Sponsorships can be purchased for a minimum of $150. Sponsorship benefits include having a business’ name or logo displayed at the banquet and on the menu.
