U.S. Rep. Bruce Westerman was re-elected Tuesday for his seat in Congress to represent the state’s 4th Congressional District.


The forester and engineer from Hot Springs, representing the state’s largest district geographically, led the race with 72.79% of votes Tuesday night.


Westerman’s opponent, Libertarian Frank Gilbert, received 2.85% of votes while Democrat candidate William Hanson received 24.37% as of 10:30 p.m.


Westerman is a Hot Springs native currently serving his third two-year term as representative, having first been elected in 2014. Westerman serves on the Committee on Natural Resources and the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, where he is Ranking Member of the Water Resources and Environment Subcommittee. Westerman also serves on the Minority Whip Team under the leadership of House Minority Whip Steve Scalise.
