WAIA quarterly board meeting canceled, Intermodal Authority keeps July 8 meeting on schedule
The Western Arkansas Intermodal Authority quarterly meeting that was scheduled for May 13 has been canceled and the board will meet in July.
WAIA was recently notified by the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith the Latture Conference Center was not available due the COVID-19 situation.
"With the uncertainty of COVID-19 and still unsure if we will be able to meet in May, we have decided to not find a new location to have this meeting," a WAIA news release states.
The regularly scheduled WAIA meeting on July 8 is set to be at the River Park Events Building West Room to provide an update on the multimodal port development. According to the Western Arkansas Planning and Development District the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration’s $360,000 has been awarded and will be used to "conduct an environmental study and a preliminary design analysis for the multimodal facility ,utility improvements and future developments."
