The Crawford County Quorum Court approved an ordinance authorizing County Judge Dennis Gilstrap to enter into a financing agreement for the purchase of four tri-axle dump trucks during its meeting Monday.

Gilstrap said the county will be trading in four dump trucks, which have very high mileage, and purchase four new ones from Carco International Inc. in Fort Smith.

The county previously solicited bids for the purchase of four tri-axle dump trucks. The bid was awarded to the company that met the bid specifications. The county also previously solicited proposals for obtaining financing for $435,400 for the purchases. Citizens Bank and Trust in Van Buren submitted the bid with interest of 3.35 percent or less. The financing agreement is not to exceed $435,400 plus interest.

The Quorum Court also approved an ordinance to appropriate additional funds and approve additional expenditures to the 2019 budget. The greatest transfer of funds was $50,000 from the county general fund to line items in the county election fund.

This and other requests were approved during the Crawford County Budget Committee meeting that took place at 6:45 p.m. The request from the Crawford County Election Commission was for various election expenses, according to a letter from Election Commission Chairman Bill Coleman that was included in the meeting packet.

The next regular Crawford County Quorum Court meeting is scheduled to take place Aug. 19.
