Residents of Crawford County will have plenty of options when it comes to celebrating our nation’s independence this year with two Fourth of July events scheduled before July even arrives.

The festivities begin Saturday with Mulberry’s celebration at Kirksey Park. The schedule of events begins with a beauty pageant at 4 p.m., followed by live music beginning at 6 p.m. A fireworks display will start at approximately 8:30 p.m.

In between there will be refreshments, activities and vendor booths set up.

The next event on the celebratory calendar takes place at Dyer on Sunday at the community building located on Loomis Lane. This event begins at dusk.

A few hours of family-friendly games and activities are planned by the park interpreters at Lake Fort Smith on Thursday, July 4, from 10 a.m.-noon. There will also be free hot dogs and watermelon.

Mountainburg’s Fourth of July celebration will begin with music at 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, at the old truck stop on exit 39 off I-49. The fireworks display will start at dusk. For more information call (479) 369-2791.

Van Buren’s Fourth of July Celebration and Fireworks will be held on Thursday, July 4, at the Field of Dreams Sports Complex in Van Buren. Gates will open at 7 p.m. with the fireworks display starting at dark. Parking is limited and a limited amount of concessions will be available. For more information call (479) 471-1541.

Alma’s inaugural Liberty Festival will be held Saturday, July 6, at the Alma Aquatic Park from 5-8 p.m. The free event will have lots of family-fun activities, food trucks and other food vendors, and will conclude with the Mayor’s Fireworks Display
