The Sandlot Fall Baseball League was started by Jonathan Broniste in 2017 in an effort to give kids of all skill levels an opportunity to begin, or continue, their baseball season to help them transition between age divisions.
The first year only 40 kids signed up. But last fall a website was developed to help promote the league, and the new publicity boost resulted in over 150 kids participating in last year’s fall baseball league.
In an effort to help keep the Field of Dreams as great as it can be, a fundraiser was set up to buy at least one new scoreboard.
With the help of Jamie Gibson, who was also responsible for creating the website, enough money was raised to buy four new scoreboards for the fourplex.
The major sponsors for the scoreboards are Tyson Foods, 10 Box Cost Plus and McDonald’s. Other sponsors include Super-Sav Pharmacy; Breeden Truck Center; Breeden RV Center; Pointer Trail Family Clinic; SPMI HR Professionals; Heritage Portraits; State Farm Matt Bodson; Oasis Church; Rick and Arlene Coatney; Health-Wise Pharmacy; and the Lavaca Wellness Clinic.
