The Arkansas Military Veterans Hall of Fame, Inc., is an organization that honors all veterans of the five branches of the military that have served with distinction or served honorably, then went on to be community leaders or significant contributors to society.
The organization is one of several scattered across the country that enjoys its state’s recognition. The AMFHOF has the distinction of having its display and information located on the second floor of the Arkansas State Capitol in the State Treasurer’s Office. The future goal is to relocate to the first floor.
The AMVHOF was organized by (Ret.) Col. Conrad Reynolds, United States Army. The first inductions were in 2011 and have continued each year since then.
Candidates are selected from two categories. The first category is for military accomplishment such as being the recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor or for significant achievements of valor during their military career. The second category is for those veterans who have honorably served in the U.S. Armed Forces and then contributed exceptionally to community, state and/or nation. The selection committee selects 10 nominees from the first category and five from the second.
This process takes place in September and is followed by an induction banquet in early November.
The AMVHOF is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose sole purposed is to call attention to and honor the service and sacrifice of veterans who call Arkansas their home. The financial support comes from individual donors that realize what a treasure the state of Arkansas has in its veterans. All contributions are tax deductible and are pledged solely to the organizational mission.
