The Crawford County Fire Chiefs Association met on Thursday, February 28, 2019, at the District 2 Industrial Park Fire Station.

Association President Scott Price announced two fundraising events for area firefighters that have recently become ill and injured. The chiefs request the support of the community for these events.

On March 9th at Kirksey Park in Mulberry, District 2 hosted a catfish dinner, pie auction and silent auction for two firefighters injured in an accident.

On March 16th, District 3 will have a spaghetti dinner and pie auction to raise money for a firefighter who has  required surgery and is unable to work.

The event will be at the Mountainburg Middle School Cafeteria beginning at  6 p.m. The cost is $8 for adults and $3 for kids.

There were additional announcements for hazardous materials and other firefighter training opportunities on the upcoming schedule. The remainder of this month's meeting consisted of the chiefs evaluating maps of their districts for automatic aid.

This process of “automatic aid” helps reduce Insurance loss ratings, lowering insurance rates for home and business owners in the county.

The meeting concluded with a motion and second to adjourn at 8:30 p.m.

This month’s volume report presented by the districts at the meeting is as follows: District 1: 55; District 2: 35; District 3: 39; District 5: 25; District 6: 43; District 7: 19; District 8: 6; District 9: 6; Cedarville: 9; Dyer: 6; and Southwest EMS: 681.
