The Fort Smith Regional Airport saw a 5.4 percent increase in commercial passenger traffic last month, but remains 1 percent down for the year.
According to the September airport traffic report, 7,831 passengers boarded flights at the regional airport. It was an increased of about 300 from the same time last year.
Year-to-date numbers remain in the negative in comparison to last year though. There were 66,308 enplanements, or passengers boarding flights, by the end of September 2017 for the year and 65,582 through last month. That is a decrease of 0.77 percent.
August also saw a 2 percent bump in enplanements.
