Kimberly Holman has been hired as an assistant principal for Van Buren High School.

Members of the Van Buren School District board of directors unanimously selected Holman to replace Myron Heckman, who recently was named the principal at VBHS Freshman Academy.

Holman previously was employed by the Fort Smith School District.

The board at Tuesday night’s special called meeting formally accepted the resignation of Lisa Miller as the principal at the Freshman Academy.

Also at the meeting, the board:

• Approved the hiring of Karina Piedra as teacher at Van Buren High School, Marisia Woodord as teacher at City Heights Elementary School, Carlos Ceron and Leslie Wagner as bus drivers, Linda Cole as custodian at Tate Elementary School, Marlene Cone as preschool aide at King Elementary School, Audrey Mattox as assistant special events coordinator for the district, Van Peters as a custodian, Joshua Smith as a Fine Arts Center technician and Michael Titsworth as a custodian at Butterfield Trail Middle School.

• Accepted the resignation of Carla Piedra as teacher at City Heights and Lorce Crawford, Sandra Davis and Debra Smith as custodians.

The board also approved the non-renewal of the contract for Alfred (Steve) Smith as a special education aide at Freshman Academy.
