The primary runoff election in Crawford County on Tuesday ended in a tie.

The election was for county District 3 justice of the peace between Republicans Chase Hall DeCroo and Jim Atchison. According to unofficial results provided by the Crawford County Clerk’s Office on Wednesday, both candidates received 35 votes, or 50 percent of the total.

DeCroo received 14 early votes and Atchison 13. At the polls, Atchison garnered 22 votes; DeCroo 21.

Ronda Robbins, deputy clerk in the Crawford County Clerk’s Office, said the county election commission is waiting for word from the state board of election commissioners and the secretary of state on how to handle the tie.
